Summary:
This paper conducts a deep survey of AI research funding in Chinese universities and institutions from 2010 to 2019 to determine the extent of AI-related research in China. AI funding data was collected from the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) official database and LetPub NSFC database for selected universities and institutions. The progress of AI research in China is overviewed, and the roles which these universities and institutions play in AI development in China are then discussed. This survey paper provides insight into the development strategy and status of AI and evaluates the trends of AI development and research progress in China.
