TECHNOLOGY SUMMARY
Area:
Detection technologies for identification of SARS-CoV-2 from environmental samples
Tech Brief: Our generic Volatile Organic Compound sensing platform identifies specific disease fingerprints operating automatically. Developed for early detection of disease in poultry; close to commercialization (TRL7/8) and validated in field/challenge trials. This system is being re-configured for detection of Covid-19 and future diseases.

Value Proposition: We are taking this technology and products to commercialization in the Agri-Tech sector; obviously if they work with animals they will work with humans. We are developing sensor arrays which target specific Covid-19 VOCs with validation from a leading medical institution. As the Covid-19 products are being leveraged from our existing technology; with extra support our products could be ready within 6 months. The potential size of the market: aircraft/ship cabins; classrooms; care-homes; meeting rooms; even domestic homes; in globally huge. No existing disease diagnostic or screening system offers automatous operation with the ability to be wired into existing surveillance systems to give round-the-clock monitoring of locations. By pre-screening groups of people the need for individual testing would drop way significantly. Coupled with the use of our super-rapid handheld tester only a small number of people would need an invasive and expensive PCR test as a confirmation. Unlike most medical equipment these products are relatively low-cost with negligible running costs giving users a high ROI with huge cost/workforce savings on testing. This system is also future-proof. When a new pandemic occurs new sensors could be developed within weeks once samples become available from victims.
