Detection technologies for identification of SARS-CoV-2 from environmental samples
Tech Brief: We propose the development of a digital device for rapid (10 min), accurate detection of CoV-2 virus on surfaces and from the air with ultra-high sensitivity comparable with molecular tests. The device comprised of an air-jet, a testing tube with a sampler/concentrator, and an analyzing unit integrated with Bluetooth.

FIGURES OF MERIT Value Proposition: A critical aspect of the proposed device for CoV-2 detection is an ultra-low limit of detection (LoD), comparable to PCR testing. This allows the detection of CoV-2 from environmental samples contaminated by low viral load. There are no similar devices on the market allowing virus detection from air and surfaces (except traditional swabbing in conjunction with PCR). This will be achieved by utilizing specially developed nanocomposites as substrates for antibody immobilization. Levi Diagnostics personnel have more than 15 years of experience working with the above nanostructures developing multiple sensors for the detection of low concentration analytes. This technology was tested and validated by many Federal agencies (Army, Navy, DHS, Department of State), and private corporations. It is hard to overestimate the potential business opportunity for partners/investors that this product would provide in US and Global markets. Rapid detection of viruses from environmental samples comparable with PCR testing should be revolutionary. Fast, affordable, scalable virus monitoring will find immediate application in hospitals, clinics, schools, colleges, airports, and other public places accessible for virus spread.
