Detection technologies for identification of SARS-CoV-2 from environmental samples
Tech Brief: Our main objective is to develop a simple, rapid detecting kit for COVID-19 from non-human environmental samples like contact surfaces, materials etc. It’s a simple colorimetric assay based on the SARS-COV-2 binding mechanism to the substrate.
FIGURES OF MERIT Value Proposition: We propose our simple detection technique, which can be used for rapid and mass screening of the samples drawn from environmental origin. The technique is very simple and can be used at any place; at work places or laboratory settings. It does not require any sophisticated instruments or specialized training to conduct this detection test which is an added advantage over the currently available techniques like RT-PCR and ELISA. Also, the technique is very fast and can provide results in a short time of 10 to 15 min. This will be beneficial for faster detection of COVID-19 surface contamination at public places, work places etc.
