TECHNOLOGY SUMMARY
Area:
Detection technologies for identification of SARS-CoV-2 from environmental samples
Tech Brief: Our core technology ‘condensation growth tube capture’ (CGTC) enables highly-efficient collection of airborne particles for physical, chemical and biological analysis. The collection matrix can either maintain viability for culturing, or “kill” the virus, bacteria or fungal spores while instantly preserving the DNA/RNA for genomic analysis (e.g. RT-PCR, sequencing).

FIGURES OF MERIT
Value Proposition: Our research-grade instruments provide effective and accessible tools to monitor global pandemic outbreaks of respiratory diseases such as COVID, SARS, and MERS with our patented technology. There is interest from the military for early warning of a bioterrorist attack or surveillance of natural airborne pathogens that would affect operational readiness. We are looking to expand into markets such as indoor air and occupational health, homeland security/biodefense, agribusiness, medical diagnostics of exhaled breath, and in-vitro toxicology testing of commercial aerosol products (bypassing animal testing). Our technology for the research market is already available for sale globally and we have scalable manufacturing and support processes developed. Development of tools that allow for rapid collection of particles in the source locations can help quickly identify and contain outbreaks that impact human and animal life. One of our key contributions is the ability to collect viable samples quickly and efficiently.
