TECHNOLOGY:
Plasmonic sensor for label-free detection of individual SARS-CoV2 particles and acompanying bacterial pathogenes in liquid samples
AFFILIATION:
Leibniz-Institut für Analytische Wissenschaften - ISAS-e.V., Dortmund, NRW, Germany
TECHNOLOGY SUMMARY
Area:
Detection technologies for identification of SARS-CoV-2 from environmental samples
Tech Brief: The unique quality of the PAMONO-sensor is its ability to detect the binding of individual viruses to the gold sensor surface in the Kretschmann‘s configuration of plasmon excitation. The PAMONO-sensor sizes and quantifies viruses and other biological NPs in liquid samples, preliminary also in gases.

Value Proposition: 1) As a quality control instrument in the companies dealing with the production of virus-like particle (VLP)-based vaccines and extracellular vesicle (EV)-based drug-delivery systems. 2) As a detection instrument to control the presence of viruses in environmental samples (water and any samples receied after scraping by cotton buds).
