
Major Span currently serves as the Chief Engineer for the Disruptive Concepts Branch, part of the Disruptive Futures division, Air Force Lifecycle Management Center (AFLCMC/EBZC) at Eglin AFB, where he directs engineering work for cutting-edge technology programs, and serves as a primary driver for acquisition transformation. He holds a PhD in Systems Engineering from Colorado State University and has previous experience as a Systems Engineering instructor at the US Air Force Academy. He has served as an author and contributor to numerous professional publications and seeks to advance the Systems Engineering practice as an International Council on Systems Engineering (INCOSE) Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP). Currently, Maj Span leads efforts within AFLCMC/EB to forward the practice of modular systems architecture, streamlining of acquisitions, Model-based Systems Engineering (MBSE), and rapid prototyping efforts.
