Mike Severson is a system engineer at Idaho National Laboratory with a diverse engineering background that includes research, testing, analysis, technical writing, and presentations. He holds a bachelor’s in bioengineering from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, where he designed and built a prototype annulus with low pressure drop to eliminate fuel vapor emission from the Onboard Refueling Vapor Recovery system in automobiles by using ultraviolet light emitting diodes and a photocatalyst. He was an intern at INL in 2018, compiling data and research pertaining to the economic viability of extracting materials deemed critical by the Department of Energy from various consumer products and vehicles.
