Steven Brain is the Federal Cybersecurity Strategic Advisor
at Dominion Energy, where he leads cybersecurity initiatives and advises on
policy and regulatory requirements supporting Department of Defense contracts.
With more than 40 years of experience in the utility industry, he brings deep
expertise in critical infrastructure protection, cybersecurity, compliance, and
risk management. Mr. Brain previously led Dominion Energy’s NERC CIP Compliance
Program and has served on multiple NERC Standard Drafting Teams shaping
industry cybersecurity standards. He is a frequent contributor to industry
trade organizations, a former participant in the SERC ISME audit program, and a
regular speaker at national industry conferences. His career spans senior
leadership and technical roles across IT, cybersecurity operations, and
telecommunications, giving him a practical, operations-focused perspective on
securing complex energy systems.
