
Brian Benestelli is a Director in Axio’s cyber risk
engineering practice. His work contributes to the resilience of the critical
infrastructure sectors that underpin national and economic security, supporting
operators and the organizations that serve them. Today, Brian develops tools
and guidance for energy sector stakeholders, works with clients to apply the
Axio platform to their own environments, and builds training content that helps
practitioners put assessment frameworks into practice. Previously, Brian was a
Cybersecurity Engineer and Team Lead at Carnegie Mellon University’s Software
Engineering Institute (SEI). He led the SEI’s engagement with the Department of
Energy (DOE) Office of Cybersecurity, Energy Security, and Emergency Response
(CESER) and contributed to the development of the DOE’s Cybersecurity
Capability Maturity Model (C2M2). Before moving into technical leadership, he
managed complex federal projects and internal cybersecurity research. Brian
holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from PennWest California
and a Master of Professional Studies in Cybersecurity and Information Assurance
from Pennsylvania State University.
