Ryan Cobey is a Senior Infrastructure Analyst for Idaho National Laboratory’s Critical Infrastructure Security and Resilience Division under the National and Homeland Security Directorate. As an Infrastructure Analyst at Idaho National Laboratory, Ryan’s work involves geospatial intelligence analytics analysis and assessment of risk to critical infrastructure from both physical and natural hazards through an examination of infrastructure systems and their interconnected dependencies.
Prior to assuming an analyst position at Idaho National Laboratory, Ryan worked as a professor of International Relations at Ecuador’s Universidad de las Americas where he taught a variety of classes including Latin American Political History, Geopolitics and Global Political Economics. Following a devastating 7.8 magnitude earthquake in 2016, Ryan joined a team of professors on a research project assessing local adaptive capacities for enhancing resilience in three areas of the Ecuadorian coast hit particularly hard by the disaster. The project provided information on losses to critical infrastructure in key areas and utilized GIS capabilities to map out the most affected sections of municipalities.
