
Doug Doan founded Hivers and Strivers, a venture capital fund which invests exclusively in military veterans and particularly graduates of the US Military Academies (West Point, Annapolis, Air Force and Coast Guard Academies).
Doug is a 1979 graduate of the United States Military Academy at
West Point. He also attended the Defense
Language Institute and holds a Master’s Degree in Public
Administration from the John F. Kennedy School at Harvard
University and a Master’s Degree in Strategic intelligence
from the Defense Intelligence College. Doug has worked at all
levels of the federal government, to include service at the White House on the
National Security Council Staff during the Reagan Administration. Later, as a
Presidential Appointee, Doug joined the newly-created Department of Homeland
Security (DHS) and provided America’s private sector with a direct line of
communication to the Department.
Doug
currently serves on the Board of the PenFed Foundation and was a previous
member of the Board of Visitors for the National Defense University which
provides oversight and review for the National War College, Joint Forces Staff
College and Eisenhower School for National Security. He also served on Board of the West Point
Association of Graduates Development Committee.
