Deborah Segal is an environmental health scientist in the Science Partnership Branch of the EPA OASES Science Engagement Division where she is an SBIR team member. Prior to this, Segal was in EPA’s Office of Research and Development. She was a Co-Chemical Manager of the Methylmercury IRIS Assessment and the Manganese Oral IRIS Assessment. Previously, she was an HHRA Co-Project Lead for Cumulative Risk Assessment, a Co-Chemical Manager for the n-Butanol IRIS Assessment and a team member for both the Formaldehyde Assessment and DEHP assessment. She has worked on several projects related to susceptibility and the modification of chemical health effects, particularly developmental neurotoxicity, by nonchemical stressors. Prior to joining CPHEA/NCEA 14 years ago, Segal spent 10 years in ORD’s National Center for Environmental Research. Segal’s graduate research focused on evaluating immediate early gene expression in the hippocampus of rat pups developmentally exposed to lead, in the Toxicology Division of the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.
