
Obidon Bassinan is an Electronics Engineer with the Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division (NAWCAD) in Patuxent River, Maryland. In her current role within the NAWCAD Mission Support team, Ms. Bassinan leads and manages the avionics Fiber Optics Science and Technology (S&T) portfolio, overseeing advanced research, technology transition, and engineering support across multiple naval aviation platforms.
Ms. Bassinan manages Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) initiatives as TPOC and internal research programs focused on advanced fiber optic and photonics advanced technologies. Her portfolio includes the development of analog and digital photonic components for harsh aerospace operating environments.
Beyond research execution, Ms. Bassinan serves as a Navy representative to the Joint Aviation and Military Commonality Fiber Optic Working Groups and SAE AS-3 Fiber Optics and Applied Photonics Committee, where she supports standard updates for aerospace platforms. Prior to joining NAWCAD in 2016, she served as a Patent Examiner in cellular wireless communications at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. Ms. Bassinan holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Maryland, College Park, and an M.S. in Information Assurance from the University of Maryland Global Campus.
