Keith Woodman

Senior Operations Manager

NASA

Dr. Keith Woodman began his career at NASA in 1988, contributing to the development of technologies across aeronautics, science, and human spaceflight. Early in his career, he led the design and integration of a hydrogen leak detection system for the Space Shuttle Discovery and co invented a smart data acquisition system for vehicles and structures—an innovation that was ultimately patented and commercially licensed within the automotive industry.

After transitioning from hands-on systems development into management, Dr. Woodman’s work has focused on technology assessment and program management for several of NASA’s major human spaceflight initiatives. He now serves as a senior operations manager for NASA’s Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Program, where he oversees investment processes that connect small, innovative U.S. companies with NASA’s most pressing technical challenges.

Dr. Woodman holds a Bachelor of Science in Applied Physics from Christopher Newport University; a Master of Engineering Management from George Washington University, with a concentration in technology assessment; and a Doctor of Engineering Management from Old Dominion University, specializing in complex systems analysis and development. Since 2011, he has also served as an adjunct professor of Space Studies for the American Military University.
