
Founder
of Genomatica (1998), and served as CEO 2009-2024, leading its mission to
accelerate the transition to more sustainable materials - creating, scaling and
commercializing multiple award-winning technologies delivering measurable
impact across the US, Europe, and Asia on an economically competitive basis to
fossil fuel based alternatives. Currently serves as Chairman of the Board
of Future Origins - a US-based venture bringing together global consumer brand
owners Unilever, Kao, and L'Oreal together with Genomatica-powered technology
to build a world-scale alternative supply chain for palm-based home and
personal care ingredients. Additionally, serves as Lead Board Director of
Again Bio, an EU-based deep tech company opening the way to enable CO2 as a
feedstock for making widely-used chemicals and everyday ingredients, as well as
being a member of the Board of Directors at Enduro, an EU-based services and
technology provider programming cells to maintain high production to improve
large-scale fermentations.
Christophe is Chair
Emeritus and Board member of Biocom, the largest advocacy organization for
California’s life sciences sector, and has served on BIO’s Industrial &
Environmental Section Governing Board. He is also a member of YPO, an international
leadership organization for chief executives, and previously served on the
World Economic Forum Global Agenda Council on Biotechnology. In 2024 he
was named by Forbes as one of the top 50 global sustainability leaders.
Christophe holds a Ph.D. in bioengineering from the University of California,
San Diego and earned a B.S. in biomedical engineering from Duke University.
