Ulrich Muenz is Principal Key Expert for Advanced Control and Optimization for power grids and industrial manufacturing at Siemens Technology in Princeton, NJ. He is leading multiple U.S. Department of Energy funded co-innovation projects for high renewable integration with utilities like Hawaiian Electric and Holy Cross Energy as well as research partners like EPRI, NREL, Sandia, and PNNL. His prior appointments include head of Autonomous Systems and Control at Siemens Technology in Princeton and lead system engineer for photovoltaic inverters at Robert Bosch GmbH. Ulrich Muenz received his Ph.D. degree in Automatic Control from the University of Stuttgart, Germany in 2010, and MSc degrees in Electrical Engineering and Telecommunications from the Universities of Stuttgart, Germany, and Madrid, Spain, both in 2005. He received the 2021 Edison Patent Award of the R&D Council of New Jersey and the 2010 EECI European Ph.D. Award on Embedded and Networked Control. He is also Siemens Inventor of the Year 2021.
