
Mohammed Ben-Idris is an Associate Professor and Director of the E-RESILIENCY Research Laboratory at Michigan State University (MSU). He earned his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from MSU, East Lansing, and his M.Sc. and B.Sc. degrees in Electrical Engineering from the University of Benghazi, Libya. From 2016 to 2023, he served as an Assistant and Associate Professor at the University of Nevada, Reno. Dr. Ben-Idris has over six years of industry and consulting experience and more than a decade of academic experience. His research focuses on power system resilience, cybersecurity, control, and stability. He has authored over 200 publications in the field, including book chapters, technical articles, research reports, and U.S. patents. He currently serves as Chair of the IEEE Reliability, Risk, and Probability Applications (RRPA) Subcommittee and Chair of the IEEE Task Force on Power System Resilience Metrics and Evaluation Methods. He is a recipient of the NSF CAREER Award and multiple teaching achievement awards.
