Dan Herway is the Director for DOD Energy at the Idaho National Laboratory, where he is devoted to leveraging federal capabilities and partnerships to organize a unique, pragmatic approach to addressing the nation’s highest consequence and most critical energy vulnerabilities.  The Idaho National Laboratory is a multi-disciplined Lab focused on addressing energy production, delivery, storage and security challenges with contributions in renewable energy integration, transportation transformation, water utilization, energy critical materials, biomass feedstock assembly, and advanced manufacturing.  Located on nearly 900 sq miles of federal land, the Lab includes unparalleled assets such as a utility-scale electric power grid for improving grid reliability and security; a wireless communications user facility available for commercial and government-sponsored research; and key capabilities for performing cyber and control system research, explosives impact analysis, armor development and radiological training.  Dan studied electrical engineering and business and prior to work at the INL, held positions in private industry in business strategy, program management, RF design and military communications systems.  Dan is the proud father of five kids and together they love to explore the Idaho outdoors.
