Mr. Bishop served 31 years of federal service with Navy Special Programs in Northern Virginia and his last 22 years at the Headquarters, U.S. Special Operations Command (USSOCOM), Tampa, Florida. Mr. Bishop served on numerous boards and operational planning teams for Cyberspace, Strategic Planning, Program Objective Memorandum / Budget and Training. Following the attack of September, 11 2001, Mr. Bishop was recalled to active duty and assigned to the United States Naval Forces Central Command. He served as an Intelligence Officer, Special Forces LNO and Department Head for Production and Analysis. Mr. Bishop was selected as the Naval Reserve Intelligence Officer of the Year in 2002.
Other Achievements: Mr. Bishop served on the USSOCOM Strategic Planning Operational Planning Team, The POM Integrated Product Team, established the USSOCOM Enterprise Wide Training & Exercise Program that changed the way Special Operations Forces prepared for deployment and combat, served as the technical manager for the Joint Web-enabled Training and Rehearsal System Joint Concepts Technology Demonstration, managed science & technology programs in areas of night vision, signature reduction, language & culture training, analytics, black graphite foam, and stood up the USSOCOM Special Access Program Central Office.
Civilian Medals: Received the Joint Meritorious Civilian Service Award from the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff in 2015, Two Navy Meritorious Civil Service Medals and several Letters of Commendation and Appreciation and 22 Outstanding Annual Evaluations.
Education & Certifications: Mr. Bishop has earned a Master’s Degree of Science with a concentration in Project Management and a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration from the University of Management and Technology. He also held Defense Acquisition Level III Certifications in Program Management and Science and Technology Management and Level II Certification in Systems Planning, Research Development, and Engineering (SPRDE).
In 2002, Mr. Bishop married the former Shannon N. Thompson from San Diego, California. They have five children; Brian and Alissa Purcell, Briana, Patrick and Bryan Bishop along with six grandchildren.
