Lead Defense Programs and Laboratory Program Manager, Strategic Partnerships

National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL)

Mr. Gorin has 30 years of experience in technology research and development, commercialization, and project management, including more than ten years of experience as a senior manager at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL).  He is currently the Partnership Leader for the Material and Chemical Science and Technology Directorate as well as the lead for Defense Programs at NREL.  In these roles, Steve develops and implements collaborative efforts in materials science, renewable energy generation, energy efficiency, and energy systems integration.  His responsibilities at NREL have included project development and management in a broad range of areas, including solar, wind, biomass, geothermal, vehicles, hydrogen, energy system integration, building technologies, and the energy-water nexus.  Prior to working at NREL, Mr. Gorin was Vice President of Department of Energy (DOE) Programs at Parsons Corporation and prior to that he was Vice President of Federal and International Programs at Los Alamos Technical Associates (LATA).  Mr. Gorin holds a Master’s Degree in Earth and Environmental Science from Wesleyan University and a Bachelors Degree in Geology from Hamilton College.  He also completed Executive Education in Business Administration at the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth.
