Gary Black is an Electrical Engineer within the Global Security Division at the Department of Energy’s Kansas City National Security Campus (KCNSC-GS).  Global Security delivers engineering solutions and quick response to classified national security challenges for other government agencies, supporting such mission areas as WMD proliferation deterrence, counter terrorism, and supply chain surety.

In his role, Gary is responsible for leading the development of a Firmware Reverse Engineering Quick Response Capability (FREQRC). Most recently, he has been providing standalone firmware solutions for a wide range of products, developing low power embedded systems, and leading firmware related R&D efforts. Gary has presented this work at government symposiums in 2017 and 2018.

In addition, while working at General Dynamics Ordinance and Tactical Systems (GD-OTS), he helped develop a 50kV inductive pulser and low power smart bullet. Gary received his Bachelors and Masters degree in electrical engineering with an emphasis in electromagnetics from the University of Missouri Science and Technology.
