Dr. Jan Kallberg is an Assistant Professor of American Politics in the Department of Social Sciences and Cyber Policy Fellow at the Army Cyber Institute at West Point. He holds a Ph.D. in Public Affairs (Government) and a Master's of Political Science from the University of Texas at Dallas; and a JD/LL.M. from Stockholm University. Prior to joining the faculty at West Point, he was a researcher at the Cyber Security Research and Education Institute, Erik Jonsson School of Engineering and Computer Science, at the University of Texas at Dallas under Dr. Bhavani Thuraisingham. He has taught earlier at Arkansas Tech University and George Washington University (D.C.). Dr. Kallberg graduated from Swedish Army Officer Academy (InfOHS) in 1986 and served as light infantry and cavalry (ranger) reserve officer.
Dr. Kallberg's research interest is the intersection between public leadership and cyber abilities; especially offensive cyber operations as an alternative policy option and how cyber can deliver decisive ability in critical junctures. He is also interested in the strategic perspective on cyber.
