W. Daniel “Danny” Featherston

Aviation and Missile Research, Development and Engineering Center (RDECOM)

Mr. Featherston is the Program Manager of the PIF, an element of the Army Aviation and Missile Research, Development and Engineering Center, RDECOM at Redstone Arsenal, AL. 

The PIF is a one of a kind capability within the Department of Defense.  Established as a GOGO entity with a mission to provide rapid response technical solutions for the aviation and missile community and other federal agencies.  As a full-service, customer focused operation, the PIF has, or has access to the necessary expertise and facilities to rapidly design, fabricate, integrate, test, qualify and field hardware solutions.

Prior to his current assignment in 2004, he served as Chief of Project Management at the PIF.  Mr. Featherston has served as the Associate Director of Manufacturing and Product Assurance for the THAAD Project Office.  Throughout his federal career, he has provided program management, system engineering, production and quality engineering and acquisition leadership to many Army and federal programs. 

Mr. Featherston received a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Alabama in 1988 and a Master of Science in Business Management from the Florida Institute of Technology in 1999.
