Major Jake Bowen serves as a Program Developer with the Office of Transformational Innovation, Office of Assistant Secretary of the Air Force (Acquisitions), the Pentagon, Washington, DC. Major Bowen has been on orders concurrently supporting the Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Air Force (Environment) managing the Air Force’s vehicle and support equipment energy portfolio. His is responsible for ensuring the vision, strategy and policy is in place to support the warfighters mission through energy assurance. He also oversees research and development for support equipment and vehicle projects with an eye toward energy like the world’s largest, most robust Vehicle-to-Grid demonstration at Los Angeles Air Force Base where the federal government’s first fully electric general purpose fleet provided electrical grid stability services when parked and paired with a charger. 

Major Bowen was commissioned in 2002 as a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy, and began his career in logistics at Hill Air Force Base, Utah. He completed 3 years of active duty, including a deployment to Haiti for Operations Secure Tomorrow and another deployment to Southwest Asia, before transitioning to the Air Force Reserve in 2005. He has held a variety of assignments and tours as a logistics officer for the Defense Logistics Agency as well as with the U.S. Southern Command. 

Prior to his current assignment, Major Bowen served as Operations Officer, Air Force Division, Defense Logistics Agency Aviation, Richmond, Virginia. DLA Aviation is the aviation demand and supply chain manager for approximately 85% of all DOD aviation parts. The Air Force Division is composed of 104 members who process over one million annual orders equating to over a billion dollars in sales to the operational Air Force as well as to the Defense Industrial Activities.
