Patricia Ansems Bancroft is a Senior R&D Fellow in Core R&D, and has been with Dow 29 years. Her main field of research is in polymer product development, where she has led technology development from initial idea conception to commercial launch for two product platforms (VERSIFY™ Plastomers and Elastomers and INSPIRE™ Performance Polymers), and expansion of a third platform (INFUSE™ Olefin Block Copolymers). Her technical expertise includes polymer functionalization, polymer materials science and molecular structure, application performance structure-property relationships and translation into customer applications.
After 16 years in Product Development roles in the Polystyrene, Polycarbonate, Thermoplastic Polyurethane, Polypropylene, and Elastomers businesses, she moved to Core in Growth Innovation R&D. In this role, partnering with Ventures, Patricia is responsible for researching and evaluating technologies and opportunities that complement Dow's robust Research & Development pipeline and contribute to the Company’s strategy and long-term success, with focus on both internal and external opportunity generation. Her expertise includes innovation methodologies and strategies, scouting, idea generation and early opportunity assessment across multiple success parameters, including sustainability.
Patricia joined Dow in 1991 in Terneuzen, The Netherlands. She moved to the US in 1996. She is a recipient of two R&D 100 Awards, the Dow Global Excellence in Science Award and The Dow Cramer Award for Excellence in Application Development Science. Patricia graduated from The Technical University of Eindhoven, The Netherlands, with a master’s degree in Polymer Chemistry and Engineering in 1991. She holds 24 granted patents and has published 37 articles. She is on the advisory board and a judge for the TechConnect World Innovation Conference.
