Jordan Henry is currently the Chief Cyber Engineer for NREL, serving as the lab’s lead subject matter expert in control system and distributed energy cybersecurity research and development. In this role, Jordan guides research directions in foundational and applied sciences supporting the security and resilience of complex cyber-energy systems, contributes to program and workforce development, leads strategic planning, and anchors NREL’s team to develop and enhance technical capabilities relevant to advancing cyber-defense of energy systems.
Before NREL, Jordan served over 10 years at Sandia National Laboratories as a cyber researcher, technical lead, program developer, and manager leading and conducting critical infrastructure and OT cyber research. In these roles, Jordan led teams of researchers and managed large multimillion-dollar R&D portfolios addressing cyber-physical cybersecurity challenges in energy, defense, industrial, and national security domains. Jordan has spent most of his career in OT cybersecurity, autonomous cyber systems, vulnerability analysis, cyber science and experimentation, and advanced modeling and simulation. Previous research activities include developing secure control system cybersecurity architectures, vulnerability assessments, development and deployment of cyber range environments for test and evaluation, dynamic grid power analysis, grid resiliency, and threat analysis. Jordan holds B.S. and M.S. degrees in Electrical Engineering from Missouri S&T.
