Nancy Kamei is a program director in the National Cancer Institute’s Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Development Center, where she oversees a portfolio of companies focused on cancer therapeutics.  Nancy is a serial entrepreneur having served on the start-up teams of four Silicon Valley biotechnology start-up companies (Onyx Pharmaceuticals) and has more than 20 years of experience as an investor, having selected and managed portfolios of both public equities (Capital Group Companies) and venture capital (Intel Capital). For several years prior to joining the government, she served as a national instructor for the I-CorpsTM Program, interacting with National Institutes of Health and National Science Foundation grantees.  She joined the NSF in 2017 as a Program Director where she served on the start-up team of the Convergence Accelerator and worked in the SBIR and I-Corps Programs.  After receiving her doctorate in pharmacy from the University of California, San Francisco, she started her career at Merck and then completed her master's degree in business administration at Stanford University’s Graduate School of Business.  Nancy also has over 40 years of service in the non-profit sector.
