Karen West Morgan, is a Principal of C & P Management Services, LLC and an Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Consultant to the Maine Technology Institute (MTI). Ms. West has specialized business experience in government and civilian contracting, subcontracting and supply management. For MTI, Karen specializes in guiding small businesses and entrepreneurs in writing competitive SBIR/STTR R&D proposals. She is a recognized expert in the state of Maine with over 20 years of SBIR/STTR experience. In 2006, Karen received the prestigious SBA Tibbetts award for exemplifying the very best in SBIR achievements. She has worked with hundreds of companies and assisted them in receiving over $100M in federal R&D funding. She has extensive technical writing expertise including co-author of the Drug & Market Development Publication, “A Guide to Successful SBIR/STTR Proposal Writing,” and authoring a guide to the National Institutes of Health granting process. She’s an invited panel member for the National Science Foundation and US Department of Agriculture’s SBIR/STTR review process.
An ex-Air Force certified trainer, Ms. West has developed intensive SBIR/STTR proposal writing courses and routinely gives presentations to small businesses and entrepreneurs. In addition, she organizes the “SBIR Summer Session” in Maine where hundreds of people have listened to SBIR/STTR program managers talk about their SBIR/STTR programs. Ms. West was a supervisor and Contracting Officer in the Air Force and has extensive knowledge of the Federal Acquisition Regulation and other Agency regulations. While in the Air Force, she earned her technical instructor certification and taught government contract and procurement courses.
