Dr. Jon Magnuson has been the Boeing Defense System (BDS) SBIR Focal since March 2015.  He has 30 years of experience as an Engineer/Scientist who focuses on research, development, design and test of prototype products for potential new business ventures. In his SBIR Focal role he promotes the integration of SBIR technology into BDS products.

Dr. Magnuson joined Boeing’s Space and Intelligence Systems Division New Business Capture Team in April 1998. He performed Research and Technical design, integration & test of Intelligence, Surveillance, and Recognizance (ISR) Systems.

Dr. Magnuson has five (5) patents awarded by the US Patent and Trademark Office

Dr Magnuson joined a Small Business, Nichols Research Corporation (NRC), right after college. At NRC, he worked for twelve (12) years as a design engineer on SBIR awards, supported the AF Space Missile Command as a System Engineering and Technical Assistance (SETA) contractor, and developed missile tracking and discrimination algorithms for Prime Contractors TRW and Boeing. Dr Magnuson was also the Architected of Missile Tracking and Target Classification Software for the Midcourse Space Experiment (MSX).

Dr. Magnuson graduated with a Ph D in Physics from Dartmouth College in 1985. He also holds both a Bachelor and Master of Electrical Engineering, an MBA, and a Bachelor of Science in Physics.
