Dr. Amanda Bullock currently serves as the Senior Strategy Advisor for Digital and AI at the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL), working in partnership with the Department of the Air Force (DAF) Digital Transformation Office (DTO). In this strategic role, she focuses on implementing Generative AI, analytics, and data capabilities across the broader DAF and DoD communities. Dr. Bullock maintains vital connections between AFRL and other defense entities, effectively bridging technical expertise with operational needs while advancing digital transformation initiatives in AI, machine learning, and advanced analytics.
Her academic foundation includes a Bachelor of Science in Statistics from Eastern Kentucky University and a Master of Science in Applied Statistics from Wright State University. In 2013, she earned her PhD in Electrical Engineering from the Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT), specializing in Statistical Signal Processing. Following her doctoral studies, Dr. Bullock conducted postdoctoral research in Non-Destructive Evaluation and Non-GPS navigation before transitioning to academia.
Dr. Bullock's teaching career spans multiple institutions, including Wright State University, Central State University, and AFIT, where she taught mathematics, biostatistics, statistics, signal processing, and data science. Her academic experience was further enhanced by a prestigious Fellowship at the Army Research Laboratory's Survivability and Lethality Analysis Directorate at Aberdeen Proving Ground, where she deepened her expertise in advanced analytics and AI applications.
In 2017, Dr. Bullock transitioned to civil service as the Project Engineer for LEGACY, an Air Force internship program designed to recruit STEM students. Her leadership capabilities led to her appointment as head of the Enterprise Architecture Modeling team in 2019, followed by roles as the AI Lead for AFRL's Digital Capabilities Directorate and AFRL Deputy Chief Data Officer in 2022.
In her current position as Senior Strategic Advisor, Dr. Bullock focuses on reducing administrative burden through AI implementation, fostering connections between AFRL, DoD, and industry AI initiatives, and enhancing workforce capabilities in AI, machine learning, and advanced analytics. She has been instrumental in launching pioneering experiments with Generative AI within the Department of the Air Force and continues to lead integration efforts for commercial Generative AI tools across the DoD.
Dr. Bullock's research interests encompass STEM education, Generative AI, Non-destructive evaluation and Signal Processing. She remains dedicated to leveraging her multidisciplinary expertise to drive innovation and modernization throughout the Air Force and broader defense community.
