Kirk Avery is a Lockheed Martin Senior Fellow and the Mission Systems and Autonomous Technologies Chief Architect with over 35 years’ experience in architecting solutions for fixed, rotary, and unmanned systems.  

 

Over the course of his career, Kirk has architected and provided leadership for many modular, open solutions, platforms, and products. Kirk’s responsibilities include the implementation of the organization's Open Systems Approach and product-line strategies, architectural oversight to Lockheed Martin programs, and is a subject matter expert in systems/software engineering and open architecture. 

 

Kirk served as the Future Airborne Capability Environment (FACE®) Consortium’s Technical Working Group Chair or Vice-Chair from the Consortiums inception through 2019 and currently serves as the FACE Steering Committee Chair and Conformance Verification Subcommittee Chair. Kirk currently serves as the Sensor Open Systems Approach (SOSA®) Consortium’s Technical Working Group ChairKirk also serves as Lockheed Martin’s Primary Steering Committee member for both the FACE and SOSA Consortiums and is involved in multiple other domestic and international open architecture efforts.
