Stephen Gorin

Manager, Strategic Partnerships
National Renewable Energy Lab (NREL)

Mr. Gorin has more than 33 years of experience in research and development, commercialization, business development and project management, including more than 15 years of experience as a senior manager at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL).  He is currently the Director of Strategic Partnerships for the Material, Chemical, and Computational Science Directorate.  In this role, Steve develops and implements collaborative efforts in materials science, renewable energy generation, energy efficiency, and energy systems integration.  In 2009, Mr. Gorin led a strategic initiative to develop a Department of Defense (DOD) energy program at NREL for advanced energy technology R&D and demonstration programs and he managed DOD programs at NREL for more than a decade.  His responsibilities at NREL have included project development and management in a broad range of areas, including solar, wind, biomass, geothermal, vehicles, hydrogen, energy storage, energy systems integration, and building technologies.  Prior to working at NREL, Mr. Gorin was Vice President of Department of Energy (DOE) Programs at Parsons Corporation and prior to that he was Vice President of Federal and International Programs at Los Alamos Technical Associates (LATA).  Mr. Gorin holds a Master’s Degree in Earth and Environmental Science from Wesleyan University and a Bachelor’s Degree in Geology from Hamilton College.  He also completed Executive Education in Business Administration at the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth.
