Dr. Moe Momayez is the Associate Professor and Associate Department Head of the University of Arizona’s Department of Mining & Geological Engineering. He is also the Energy Team Leader for the Lowell Institute for Mineral Resources. His research focuses on the development and application of non-invasive technologies to rock mechanics, rock physics, geomaterials characterization, and environmental investigations. His research interests also include renewable energies, more specifically low-temperature geothermal heat extraction from underground mines and transformation of reclaimed mining lands and tailing ponds into photovoltaic solar farms. Momayez earned a Ph.D. in Mining Engineering from McGill University, Montreal, Canada.
