Principal Scientist
Goeppert

Dr. Niedzwiecki, Principal Scientist at Goeppert, will discuss how his company is pioneering the in-space production of high-quality 2D materials, specifically molybdenum disulfide (MoS₂), for next-generation semiconductor applications. Goeppert is developing specialized low-temperature MOCVD furnaces designed for in-space use that leverage microgravity's unique advantages: eliminating gravity-induced convection and sedimentation that limit crystal quality on Earth. The goal is to grow MoS₂ with fewer defects, reduced sulfur vacancies, and larger domains, which are critical for advanced microelectronics including ultra-scaled transistors, memory devices, and radiation-hardened electronics for both terrestrial and space applications.
