The Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association (AFCEA) is a non-for-profit international organization that serves its members by providing a forum for the ethical exchange of information. AFCEA is dedicated to increasing knowledge through the exploration of issues relevant to its members in information technology, communications, and electronics for the defense, homeland security and intelligence communities.
The Tampa-St. Petersburg (Pelican) AFCEA Chapter has a long-standing tradition of supporting the advancement of the excellence in technology, professionalism, and education as they relate to the vital areas of command, control, communications, computers, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (C4ISR), electronics, audiovisual and information systems. The Pelican Chapter distributes annual scholarships and grants in the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) field. Proceeds from our annual Golf Tournament, monthly luncheon raffles, and other fundraising events contribute to our Scholarship Fund. Additionally, we support community schools, as well as the Hope Children's Home, a local orphanage.
The AFCEA Pelican Chapter is also developing a cyber outreach program to encourage local students to pursue a career in cybersecurity in hopes they will attend cybersecurity programs at local universities and colleges, compete for internships and move on to full time employment opportunities at local commercial, academia, and government institutions.
The Pelican Chapter monthly membership meetings are normally held with a luncheon on the third Thursday of each month at MacDill AFB.
